Pre-loved Toy Stall at the Summer Fair

As part of our pocket money stall at the Summer Fair, we would like to add a Pre-Loved Toy stall. This would give the chance for children to buy new toys, books and DVDs for just a few pounds.

If you have any good quality toys, games, children books or DVDs that you no longer need, please hand them in to the school between Monday 4th and Wednesday 6th of July (more details nearer the date).

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Year 1 : Mystery Jars for the Summer Fair

This year we would like Year 1 to donate a mystery jar for the Summer Fair taking place on Saturday 9th of July. This is for a highly popular stall where children can buy their own surprise in a jar. We thought you might need a little time to prepare!!!

Step 1: wash out an old jam, sauce, coffee jar etc.

Step 2: fill the jar with anything e.g. hair bands, marbles, sweets, cars, loom bands, pencils, dinosaurs – the more different the better!

Step 3: wrap the jar in wrapping paper

Step 4: attach a tag indicating if this is for a boy, girl or boy/ girl

Please hand in your mystery jars on mufti-day, Friday 8th of July.

As always, thank you in advance for your ongoing support.

Mufti day on Friday 8th of July – Donations for the Summer Fair

There will be a Mufti-day on Friday 8th of July in exchange for a donation (see suggestions below).

  • Reception: Summer toys
  • Year 1: Mystery jars
  • Years 2/3: Alcoholic drinks (*)
  • Year 4 : Summer toys
  • Years 5/6: Non-alcoholic bottles

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

(*) As the parents/carers of pupils from years 2/3 walk their children to school, we thought it would be a safe way for the parents/carers to hand the alcoholic drinks to the teachers. Older pupils have to walk to the school and we don’t think it would be a good idea to ask pupils from Years 5/6 to walk to the school carrying alcohol.

If you feel uncomfortable bringing alcohol to the school, feel free to bring a non-alcoholic bottle to the school on that day instead.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Newsletter – Spring 2016

For the past few years, you have helped us to raise hundreds of pounds through a wide range of amazing events, including Halloween discos, film nights, Christmas and summer fairs, personalised Christmas cards, Easter Bingo, Mother’s day and Father’s day stalls, pre-loved uniform sale, etc.

This money has only one purpose: to benefit our children at Bridgewater Primary school.

This term, the Friends were able to purchase exciting items for the school and we thought you should know how your money is spent.

Here are some of the items you have helped us buy:

  • 5 new Glockenspiels
  • A new piano for the Inspire hall (around £700)
  • £250 worth of new library books
  • £2000 worth of maths resources (Numicon)
  • A new mud kitchen for Reception
  • New school football kits
  • 18 new STEM books
  • Each class received £50 to spend as they wish
  • New benches and tables for the Inspire playground

We are also in the process of purchasing a new gazebo for the Inspire playground, more equipment for Reception, and a Communication Hub.

We still have quite a few events before the end of the year. Please put these dates in your diary:

  • Film night: Thursday 12th of May (tickets sold from 4th to 6th of May)
  • Committee meeting: Thursday 19th of May at 6pm (at the school)
  • Father’s Day stalls: 8th and 9th of June
  • Summer Fair: Saturday 9th of July

Once again, we would like to thank you for helping us raise money for the school.

As working parents/carers, we are very happy to dedicate some of our free time to organise these events that we hope you and your family enjoy. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or if you would like to help us!

Thank you.
